John C. Tartaglione was born in Brooklyn in 1968 and began drawing
before he was old enough to go to school. He was encouraged to develop
his creative abilities by his talented father, John, Sr., who had
worked at Marvel for several decades during the "Golden Age"
of comic books.
John, Jr., studied painting, drawing and illustration in New
York City at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the School
of Visual Arts, where he was a student of such distinguished
artists as the late Jack Potter and the late Herb Tauss.
While working in New York, John was a painter/colorist for the noted
artist, Jeff Koons, and began branching out on his own, accepting
commissions for private and corporate clients. John's original and
uncommon views of Manhattan are seen in his latest body of work,
a compelling series of bright, evocative, yet, at times, solitary
streetscapes.
